About Divergent Trails

Support rooted in connection, understanding, and meaningful process.

Divergent Trails was created to offer families a different kind of support-- one that is individualized, compassionate, and responsive to the real experience of raising and teaching neurodivergent children.

Meet Misty

I'm Misty, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, educational therapist, former classroom teacher, and longtime homeschool guide. For over 25 years, I have worked alongside children, supporting behavior, communication, learning and family connection.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of walking with families through both the challenges and the meaningful process that come with raising a neurodivergent child. Over time, one thing became clear: families do not need more pressure or one-size-fits all solutions--they need support that helps them understand their child and move forward with confidence.

The Heart Behind the Work

Much of this work has grown from year of sitting with families in difficult moments--when a child was overwhelmed when learning was met with tears, tantrums, or refusals, or when parents felt unsure how to help. I have seen how easy it is for families to feel stuck, and I have seen what happens when understanding begins to shift

Again and again, I've witness that when behavior is understood differently, connection follows. And when connection grows, meaningful change becomes possible.

Why Divergent Trails

Divergent Trails was founded on the belief that every child can learn and every family is on an unique path. Some seasons feel steady, while others feel overwhelming or uncertain. This work exist to support families along that path with clarity, compassion, and practical guidance.

At Divergent Trails, we integrate applied behavior analysis, educational therapy, and real-world experience to provide support that is both structured and responsive. Our approach is grounded in respect, connection, and the understanding that meaningful progress looks different for every child.

What Makes Us Different

We take a neurodiversity-affirming approach, focusing on understanding each child as an individual rather than trying to fit them into a predefined model. Behavior is viewed within context, communication is prioritized, and learning is shaped around each child's strengths and needs.

We are not a clinic built around volume.

We are not a program driven by insurance shortcuts.

We are not a model that separates therapy, learning, and home life.

Instead, we are:

✔️ Relationship-centered — Trust comes first. Learning follows.

✔️ Truly individualized — No templates. No cookie-cutter goals.

✔️ Integrated — Therapy, academics, and home life working together.

✔️ Collaborative — Parents are informed, empowered, and supported.

✔️ Intentional — We prioritize quality, depth, and ethical care.

Whether support is focused on ABA therapy, academic guidance, homeschool partnership, or parent coaching, the goal remains the same: to provide individualized, compassionate support that meets families where they are.

No two paths looks the same. No family should have to walk theirs alone.
